Thoughts on the Moore Outdoor Music Festival

Overall I think it was a great day. Thanks so much to all of our boosters, parents, and staff for making the day go as well as it did. Sometimes crazy things happen and we just have to go with it. Our prelims performance was good, but I believe we can do much better. Overall in prelims we placed 4th. Our scores visually were very weak which impacted our overall score and placement. I do NOT think we need to be focusing on a number that defines us. I believe we should focus on giving it our all, all of the time. Every day, every rep, every note, every step. Right now, that is simply not the case.

We have given you the vehicle to be successful. We will continue to push you and tell you what you need to do to be successful as an individual member and as a group. At some point each of you will have to decide to actually do it. For members that are struggling visually and musically this means making physical and tangible corrections. For members who are not struggling this means being consistent in everything that you do: punctuality, marching, and playing. If you can do it at a 'perfect' level do you set the example and give the same EFFORT all of the time? Consistency is key.

"You do not get rewarded in this activity for what you do, only for how well you do it." A great teacher of mine once said "The effort is the prize." Think about that.

This week is about gaining endurance, balancing and cleaning our music ensemble, cleaning fundamental marching technique from individual to individual and cleaning the visual ensemble as a whole. Its going to be difficult and tedious. If we want to be successful next Saturday its time. Lets have a great week.

GOALS:
*add brass ballad Choreo

*Create effect through a higher performance quality from each individual musically and physically. Everyone needs to be playing letter K-End of the Shostakovich in rehearsal and outside of rehearsal EVERYDAY! We must create an emotional/musical impact at the end of that movement through intensity, cleanliness and VOLUME!
